A drug bust in Owen Sound has Police concerned about what they are dealing with.
The City Police Drug Unit along with the CORE and HEAT teams raided a home on 3rd Avenue East on Wednesday night.
Police say they executed a warrant after at least four people were hospitalized for severe symptoms of hallucinations and paranoia.
Officers seized marijuana, 14 grams of a beige powder substance and a cross bow.
Detective Sergeant Mark Kielb says they believe the powder substance is a chemical compound “designer drug” referred to as PVP or bath salts.
He tells Bayshore Broadcasting News it was packaged the same as any other street drug.
Kielb admits the mysterious powder is concerning because four people were treated in hospital for the same symptoms within 12 hours.
Kielb doesn’t believe the drug is a big trend locally — but he cautions a drug disguised as bath salt is becoming more popular in the U-S.
A 47 year old man is charged with possession of marijuana and a prohibited weapon.
Three other men arrested in the home were released without charges.
Kielb says more charges are pending as the substance is analyzed to see if it contains any prohibited drugs.
He hopes to get the results from Health Canada as early as Friday or Monday.
But for now, Police have issued a warning to the public to stay away from the drug.
