The Chair of the Festival of Northern Lights in Owen Sound wants to thank the community for its support.
Doug McKee says they had more visitors, more sponsors, more donations and more community involvement this year.
As we told you on Monday — the 24th annual Festival is being hailed a huge success.
In fact, McKee says it was the most successful since he got involved seven years ago.
McKee notes the Festival attracted at least 20 tour buses — at least that is how many asked Festival personnel to guide them, there may have been more.
Stats show those visitors ate, shopped and took in entertainment in Owen Sound, which generated about a million dollars for the local economy.
McKee tells Bayshore Broadcasting News their sponsors doubled this year — and almost 15 thousand dollars was raised to maintain displays.
McKee notes the independent corporation had budgeted to raise a total of 50 thousand dollars this year — and he tells us that number is closer to 60 thousand.
McKee says the money will come in handy since they are planning big things for the 25th Festival next Winter.
He says they will also apply for Trillium funding to replace and purchase new lights and displays.
