Now that the Accommodation Review recommendations for schools in Hanover and Chesley have been accepted by the Bluewater school board, planning is underway to implement the BIG changes.
In Chesley, the high school will become a JK to Grade 12 school.
Bluewater Plant Services Administrator Al Gibb says September 2014 is the target date for the change.
He says that is also the date for full-day Junior Kindergarten to start up in the Chesley area, so it made sense to use that target date.
Gibb says a timeline was presented to the Business Committee of the board with the first step involving the planning of courses to be offered.
Once courses are determined and class types assigned, they can work on bus loops and traffic flows.
The work in Chesley could cost two million dollars including potentially new kindergarten classrooms to be built.
The much bigger project involves putting up a new high school in Hanover.
Gibb says that will be a 22 to 23 million dollar project that still needs Ministry of Education approval.
He says the construction project could take three years so it won’t be open before 2015.
Gibb says Bluewater staff are currently working on the business plan for the Ministry of Education which includes funding sources, enrolments and building sizes.
