Kincardine Council is looking to upgrade three major facilities in the Municipality.
The Kincardine Centre for the Arts, the Kincardine Annex and the Whitney Crawford Community Centre in Tiverton all need a bit of a tune up.
With that in mind — council thought it would be best to hire an architectural firm to assess all three buildings, with the hope that they can negotiate a lower fee.
Kincardine Councillor and Recreation Policy Chairman Ken Craig says the first step is to gather a staff report which outlines the scope of each project, and the direction they want to take.
After that, Craig says tenders would go out to architectural firms to bid on.
As for the buildings themselves, Craig says the Annex is in good shape, but the Whitney Crawford Centre and the Centre for the Arts are showing their age.
Craig tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that each condition report would cost about 10 thousand dollars, so it makes sense to try and negotiate a package deal.
As for budgeting, Craig says the Centre for the Arts and the Whitney Crawford Centre have reserve funds that cash can be pulled from.
The Annex project will be funded through the Ward One reserve.
