Farmers and landowners in Arran-Elderslie and Brockton are being asked for their input concerning the future of 8 bridges South of Paisley.
The Bruce County Federation of Agriculture is hosting a meeting at 8 PM tonight at the Paisley Community Centre.
Spokesperson Gail Fullerton says they’ve been asked to create recommendations for a Task Force Committee to consider on behalf of farmers.
Bruce County is currently reviewing a plan to either modify, replace, or even close some of the bridges within the next 10 years.
Fullerton says they will spend time discussing each of the 8 bridges under review.
She says the task force wants to know what a reasonable load restriction is, be it width or weight.
Some farmers have expressed concerns that bridge closures on side roads means they will have to use busy County roads, which may lead to more accidents.
Fullerton says they know the frustrations drivers have sharing the road with farm equipment — especially during the busy summer months.
