Two scams are again making the rounds in the area.
A Teeswater resident complained to the OPP about getting a letter from “Investment Services Limited” saying they had a 15.5 million dollar inheritance to collect.
The scammer then asked for personal information including bank account info for a deposit of the funds.
South Bruce OPP say luckily, the resident realized it was a scam and didn’t respond to the letter.
OPP say documents can’t be trusted at face value, as technology allows scammers to be more creative as they develop their con.
Meanwhile — a grandparent scam is again operating in the area.
A Brockton resident told the OPP they had received a call from their grandson advising he had been in a car crash with a rental vehicle and needed money.
South Bruce OPP Officers were able to interrupt the shipment and arrangements are being made to return the money.
This is rare as its normally very difficult to get the money returned to its rightful owner.
The caller is always from Montreal and the scam generally involves a car crash or a request to get bailed out of jail.
South Bruce OPP is asking families and care givers to help spread the word.
