Over three-quarters of our listeners are worried about retirement savings.
78 per cent of respondents to our poll at www.bayshorebroadcasting.ca say yes, they are worried, because they’ve lost money in the markets.
Only 22 per cent say they have a lot of money saved up, so they are not worried.
One listener comments that being raised during the depression means financial lessons learned have carried through life, and they have had no money problems despite being retired many years.
But the rest of the comments were from listeners who say they are worried, with many of them pointing out the markets and the interest rates to blame.
Others say it’s tough being a senior on a fixed income, as you are always worrying about your store of cash.
They say costs continue to exceed income, which puts a drain on savings.
Another listener simply says, “What retirement savings??”
