Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker has delivered a 99 thousand dollar cheque from the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) to the Tom Thomson Art Gallery in Owen Sound.
The local gallery received two separate grants, one for Arts Investment and one for operations from the OAC.
Walker says the Tom Thomson Gallery is a national attraction, and this investment will help to secure our place as home to one of the finest public galleries in the country.
Last September the gallery was awarded the Key Gallery Partnership Award from the Ontario Association of Art Galleries.
Director of the Tom Thomson Art Gallery Virginia Eichhorn says they are extremely grateful for the support.
She says the funding allows them to continue delivering high-quality exhibitions, programming, and outreach activities.
She also says the funding helps them to promote and develop their permanent collection as a national treasure, which draws visitors from all over the world.
