Job seekers packed the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound for a job fair on Tuesday.
Between 500 and one thousand people attended the fair with resumes in hand.
Most people we spoke to had some level of post-secondary education or a background in a skilled trade — but they all said they would entertain any job, they just needed to find work.
A number of job seekers noted that the massive line-up of people — shows just how dire the unemployment situation is in Grey Bruce and Owen Sound.
The line circled the main lobby of the Bayshore, up the stairs and around the second level — and the parking lot was completely full.
One woman was let go from a position within the Bluewater District School Board and said she would gladly take a factory job just to pay the bills.
Another man out of work for three months was after a skilled welding position but said he too was willing to take just about anything.
Companies at the fair like Tenneco, Cana-Vac, MacLean Engineering and Kuhl Machine Shop were looking to add more than 100 full-time jobs, along with 50 to 80 seasonal positions.
