Lab renovations are complete and making a big difference at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton.
Grey Bruce Health Services President and CEO Maureen Solecki says since the new space opened on December 12th, it’s really helped out their lab technicians.
She tells Bayshore Broadcasting News it has allowed them to decrease congestion in their Lab area.
She says it gives their technicians quick access to computers to input information and also gives patients a bigger space for them to get their blood drawn.
Feedback from the 60 to 90 patients who visit the lab at Saugeen Memorial each day has been all positive according to Solecki.
She notes all of the renovations are relatively minor and certainly not the final answer to their problems of overcrowding.
She admits it’s more of a quick fix considering Grey Bruce Health Services has major renovations planned in the ER department in Southampton for the Spring of 2013.
Solecki says they are looking to double the space of both their current ER and Lab departments.
