Now that the million dollar renovation to the outside of the Kincardine Arts Centre is done — those using it are back looking for money to spruce up the inside.
Marilyn Clarke of the Kincardine Centre for the Arts restoration project presented a proposal calling for a three-year plan to address the integrity and maintenance of the building.
Clarke told councillors recently that infrastructure improvements would be a “must,” saying the roof problems must be addressed.
Also mentioned was an upgrade of the heating and air conditioning systems, along with an electrical overhaul.
In the second year, further repairs would be made including renovations to the public washrooms.
Clarke says as it stands now, many of the public areas inside the building are an embarrassment and in some cases, dangerous.
Clarke called for the improvements to be considered during the 2012 budget sessions.
Mayor Larry Kraemer agrees the inside of the building does need some sprucing up and staff will put a plan together to see how they can accomplish it.
Kraemer says the approach to how to cost it out will happen soon but the budget implications will take some detailed discussion.
