The Deputy Mayor of Hanover has received a provincial pat on the back for a job well done.
Bob White is the recipient of a special provincial award that acknowledges his 26 year of public service as a politician.
White spent 12 of those 26 years as Mayor of Hanover.
He says some of the highlights of his career involve the Hanover Medical Clinic project, the Trail System and the Aquatic Centre.
White is also proud of his role in the amalgamation of Westario Power.
White was also heavily involved in the planning and building aspect of the P& H Recreation Centre.
White says has always had the good fortune of working with excellent staff and strong councillors.
After 26 years in the business, White says he has no plans to slow down.
White jokes that he got into politics quite young so he’s still has a lot of years left to serve.
White credits his father for getting him involved in politics — saying his enthusiasm rubbed off on him and by his early teens, he was hooked.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says Hanover is very fortunate to have a politician like Bob White.
Maskell adds White has played a key role in the town’s success.
