This is a good Christmas for Ryley Yost of Hanover.
The 16 year old student at John Diefenbaker Secondary School is this year’s winner of the Neil Armstrong Scholarship.
Yost traveled to British Columbia earlier this year to receive the award from the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association. (COPA)
Yost is using the three thousand dollar bursary to continue his flight training at the Saugeen Municipal Airport Flight Academy to earn a commercial license.
Yost has been flying since the age of 12, taking his first solo flight at the age of 14.
Yost encourages other youth with an interest in aviation to consider fight training.
He says it requires a lot of hard work, studying and discipline.
Once Yost earns his commercial pilots license — he plans to either fly for an airline or perhaps even start up his own aviation business.
