Kincardine now has a Municipal Culture Heritage Arts Plan.
Councillor Jacqueline Faubert developed the plan to emphasize the importance of culture, heritage and arts in the community.
She tells us the plan will ensure a long term process to guide effectively, cultural development as a key driver in the local economy.
Faubert says it means there’s another plan council would have to consider in all of its decision-making processes.
Faubert says the plan will not oversee the individual groups that make up the arts and culture of the town.
Instead she says it will bring to the attention of municipal staff, council and the town in general to think more about culture, arts and heritage as they make their decisions.
Kincardine Council approved the concept last month.
Next on the agenda is the formation of a commission which would develop a plan through stakeholder and community participation.
Final approval of any plan will likely take place next June or July.
