Everyone in Inverhuron is about to get water and sewer service and hook-up will be mandatory.
Chair of the Inverhuron Environmental Assessment steering committee, councillor Maureen Couture says they will go ahead with the nine million dollar project once the EA is finalized.
Couture says that will likely be in the Spring.
She says there are about 300 potential customers that will be affected.
Couture says municipal water will be extended to all residents of Inverhuron and payment of capital charges associated with the project will be mandatory, however connection to the waterline will be optional under certain cases.
Those affected will be responsible for the capital cost with financing arrangements to be developed.
Couture says she’s aware that 40 per cent of the ratepayers don’t want the project but for health and safety reasons, it’s time to do the right thing, not the popular thing.
