The recent Accommodation Review recommendations accepted by the Bluewater District School Board trustees, for Kincardine schools will start to be implemented next Fall.
The board’s business committee has learned implementation of the full ARC recommendation for Huron Heights school is expected for September 2012.
Kincardine trustee Jan Johnstone says that means Grades 4 to 8 students currently attending KTTPS will be transferred to Huron Heights next Fall.
At the same time KTTPS will become a JK to Grade 3 single track English School which is also expected for September 2012.
Johnstone says Elgin Market public school serving French Immersion students will be phased in over a three year period and each year primary English stream students will be transferred, completing the process in 2014.
Johnstone also says there is talk about converting the moth-balled Grades 7 and 8 technical classes at KTTPS to kindergarten classes which would save the board money in new builds or renovations.
You may recall, the board last June, put the technical programs at several schools on ice, to cut costs and present a close to balanced budget as mandated by the provincial Education Ministry.
There was no comment on whether such a move would spell the permanent end to the technical program down the road.
