Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker has vowed to be a strong voice for every local community — and that includes Hanover.
Walker met with Council members on Monday night to discuss Hanover’s concerns, priorities and hopes for 2012.
Everything from long term care beds and rising police costs to disability transportation funding and the local crystal meth problem was discussed.
Walker says his learning curve is steep, and he needs Council’s help to get up to speed on all of the issues.
Hanover is also looking to Walker for some help in acquiring provincial funding for its Downtown Revitalization Project.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says Council is eager to work with Walker and Queen’s Park for the betterment of Hanover.
Maskell feels good communication is key to the success of this partnership.
Walker has been busy meeting with a number of municipal councils over the last few weeks.
He says another key area of concern expressed throughout the riding involves the role of the Saugeen Conservation Authority, the power it holds and whether or not its time to review the Authorities mandate.
