Time is running out on the Owen Sound Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign — with only about half of the target reached.
The goal is 80 thousand dollars, and spokesperson Alice Wannan says as of Monday morning — they had collected 38 thousand dollars in the red kettles around Owen Sound this year.
That is down from last year, and Wannan admits she is concerned they won’t be able to hit the target.
Wannan says this is a busy week for shoppers and she is hoping people will dig deep to donate to the Salvation army campaign.
The collections — which will continue until Christmas Eve — will cover the food bank’s expenses for next year.
Although people have not been saying a lot about it — Wannan wonders if the big win in the Kraft Assists “Food for families” contest has deterred some people from donating this year.
