The Hanover Salvation Army is in desperate need of help.
The Hanover Salvation Army is in need of the publics help to ensure everyone has a Merry Christmas this year.
Major Sterling Snelgrove points out this is their busiest time of the year.
He says they have to keep their food bank shelves stocked but fill out the list in their toy drive and finish off their Christmas Kettle campaign.
Snelgrove says the Salvation Army needs to raise 50 thousand dollars to cover the costs of its Family Service programs for 2012.
Snelgrove is confident the goal will be reached since there are many generous residents and businesses in the Hanover area.
He encourages the public to make a donation in one of the Christmas kettles or at the food bank in any one of our local communities.
Snelgrove says there are about 240 children in Hanover in need of a Christmas present this year — and about 300 families that use the food bank regularly.
These numbers are up from last year.
In fact the need is so great that the Food Bank is distributing about 25 thousand dollars worth of food a month.
Snelgrove is new to Hanover — and says since his arrival — he has been overwhelmed by the generosity of individuals.
