Flu shot compliance for staff at Grey Bruce Health Services is up 12 per cent this year.
GBHS President and CEO Maureen Solecki went over the latest numbers at a recent board meeting.
Solecki tells Bayshore Broadcasting News they are up to 65 per cent compliance overall, and hope to achieve 70 per cent compliance by the end of the flu season.
She notes 70 per cent compliance is known as having achieved “heard immunity”, meaning enough people have been vaccinated that it protect the ones that haven’t.
At the Owen Sound and Southampton hospitals, approximately 62 per cent of staff have been vaccinated.
Rates for other hospitals include Lion’s Head at 83 per cent, Markdale at 82 per cent, and Wiarton and Meaford at 79 per cent.
Solecki adds we are still early in the flu season, so they will continue to push for staff as well as the public to get vaccinated in the months ahead.
