The Bluewater District School Board has a new chair and vice-chair for the coming year.
Kincardine/Huron-Kinloss trustee Jan Johnstone defeated incumbent Owen Sound trustee Marg Gaviller in a vote amongst trustees for the position of chair.
Johnstone said she was going to focus on getting more input from student trustees and senators in the coming year.
She says sometimes the students are not sure when or if they should speak and she wants to make the board meetings more user-friendly for them.
Johnston, who has been a trustee for 10-years, also served as Vice-Chair of the board in the past.
Meanwhile, Southgate/Grey Highlands trustee Jim Dawson was acclaimed to the position of Vice Chair.
Dawson was newly-elected to the board in the last municipal election.
He says he wants to help develop a solid team around the table that will move forward in terms of the strategic plan that has been developed.
Dawson says there are other challenges coming forward such as the budget and the current Bible distribution issue as well.
Dawson replaces former Vice Chair John Chapman who did not run this time.
