A former Owen Sound psych nurse is going to jail for a year after pleading guilty to sexual assault involving a young female patient.
61 year old Randy Leslie pleaded guilty to the charge in November — and avoided a trial that was scheduled to start this week.
Leslie was charged after an investigation at the Owen Sound hospital in July 2009.
Court heard Leslie had sex with a patient who was staying on the psychiatric floor of the hospital.
Leslie also received 18 months probation, his name will appear on the sex offender registry for 10 years and he is banned from owning weapons for 5 years.
Leslie also had his certification stripped by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
The discipline panel held a hearing in April and concluded Leslie committed an act of professional misconduct and breached professional standards.
