Bruce Power loaded the final fuel bundle into Unit 1 at the Bruce A generating station on Thursday, completing the work safely and in a week less than it took for Unit 2 in July.
Spokesperson James Scognack says operators installed over 5,700 fuel bundles and now both units are fuelled and moving towards the return-to-service program.
Scognack tells Bruce County councillors that as units come back on line, the company is confident the system operator will have the infrastucture ready to take the energy when its needed.
Work has been ongoing on the Bruce Power to Milton power line.
Scognack says with the fuel loading in Unit 1 being done 7-days faster than in Unit 2, it signifies that they have learned valuable lessons during this first-of-a-kind restart project.
Unit 2 is expected to be on the electrical grid early in the first quarter of 2012 with commercial operation by late in the quarter.
Unit 1 will follow the same process in the second quarter of next year.
