A new City clerk has been hired by the City of Owen Sound.
City Manager Ruth Coursey has announced Kristen Van Alphen will assume her new responsibilities on January 2nd, 2012.
A native of Owen Sound — Van Alphen has 10 years of management experience and is currently employed as an Associate Lawyer at Kirby Robinson Treslan Conlan Professional Corporation.
She completed her Bachelor of Laws and Masters of Public Administration at Dalhousie University in Halifax.
While earning her Masters in Public Administration she spent four months as a management intern with the City of Owen Sound.
Van Alphen also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts, English and Drama Degree from the University of Western Ontario.
Coursey says “We are delighted to have Kristen joining our team.”
She brings to the table a combined background of municipal, legal and management experience along with excellent leadership and communication skills.
