A former South Bruce Peninsula councillor has passed away after a lingering illness.
Art King served on council for four years before announcing health issues would prevent him from running again in 2010.
King — a native of Purple Valley — was employed as a police officer in Toronto and area before returning to his home region.
King became the first and only police officer on Cape Croker First Nation Reserve, where he worked as an R.C.M.P. officer.
After three years he transferred to the Ontario Provincial Police where he became a regular officer at the Wiarton Detachment.
Art King is resting at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home and Chapel, 814 Bruce Road 8 in Sauble Beach on Thursday from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM.
A service to celebrate Art’s life will be conducted from the Sauble Christian Fellowship Church, 25 Southampton Parkway in Sauble Beach on Friday at 2 PM.
