The Grey Bruce Labour Council is recognizing two men for their commitment to the union movement.
Paul Johnstone has been named Labour Activist of the Year.
Johnstone led the fight to keep the jails in Owen Sound and Walkerton open.
The jail guard also ran unsuccessfully for the NDP in October’s provincial election.
While both campaigns proved unsuccessful, Johnstone is proud of the recognition by the Labour Council.
The Grey Bruce Labour Council has also recognized Brad Drake with the Labour Person of the Year award.
Drake was honoured for his work in encouraging young people to get involved in the union movement.
