There may not be any indication of any work being done towards the redevelopment project at Kincardine Hospital but things are happening nevertheless.
President and CEO of South Bruce Grey Health Centre Paul Davies has told the board of directors behind-the-scenes paperwork continues and the project is a go.
Davies says his group has met twice with Health Ministry officials recently to go over some pretty basic issues, such as who owns the property the Kincardine Hospital sits on while the second meeting focused on setting up a timetable in order to meet all the milestones that are required between now and tendering time.
Davies says the first milestone should be completed by next February.
He says they need to issue of what he calls an engagement document for the functional plan and the architects.
Before that though, a request for proposals needs to be issued.
After February and with ministry approval, the consultants will move in, looking at sizes, spaces, patient volumes and relationships between departments.
Davies says the consultants will also be looking at a 20-year plan as to what the hospital may be in the future.
He says they have one shot at doing it right during the new build.
There’s no change on expectations.
A shovel in the ground won’t happen until March 2015 with completion of the project two years later.
No exact cost on the construction although earlier reports said it could cost 43-million dollars for phase one.
