A town hall style meeting is being held today in Owen Sound about tourism in the region.
It is hosted by Regional Tourism Organization 7 — or RT07 — with discussion focusing on the plan to develop Grey-Bruce-Simcoe as a tourism destination.
Regional tourism organizations (RTO’s) came about as a result of the Discovering Ontario report.
That report recommended a regional approach to tourism, that would bring together stakeholders to identify and define unique experiences offered by the region..
The goal of approach is to attract more visitors, generate more tourism related economic activity, and create more tourism jobs in the region.
Todays’ session is from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Best Western Inn on the Bay in Owen Sound.
A similar session is set for Thursday from 10 AM to Noon at the Cranberry Resort in Collingwood.
