High school students within the Bluewater District School Board will be prepared for the workforce with experiential learning this week.
Through the Passport to Prosperity program, students will participate in several activities for Experiential Learning Week.
It is the second year the school board has taken part in the initiative that was introduced by the Ministry of Education.
Different events will take place at various high schools around the region this week, including activities like field plowing, Ecology Day at Cypress Lake, and guest speakers on topics like climate change and horticulture.
On Wednesday, Georgian Bay Secondary and Meaford Community School will each host a tourism career fair.
The Skills Opportunity Showcase trailer will also be making its way to various schools throughout the week.
Bluewater’s Student Achievement Leader Jean Stephenson says connecting kids and employers and sparking interest in future career possibilities is what Experiential Learning Week is all about.
