A sudden blast of winter weather caught drivers off-guard across Midwestern Ontario.
South Bruce OPP say they responded to 21 minor collisions in the snow on Thursday night and Friday morning.
The OPP also tell us they dealt with 12 collisions on Thursday night and Friday morning in Startford and Perth County — and four people were sent to hospital with minor injuries.
Many were single-vehicle crashes including one at Highway 23 and Line 28 south of Mitchell where a hydro pole was snapped.
There were no injuries in a three-vehicle collision near the same intersection several hours later.
There was also a two-vehicle collision at Wellington Avenue and Main Street in Listowel.
In Stratford a police officer suffered minor injuries when a marked cruiser was hit by a car that was on its way to Stratford General Hospital last night.
The cruiser was on station at Erie Avenue and Packham Road while another collision investigation at that location was ongoing.
