There’s a computer scam going on in the Saugeen Shores area.
According to Police — victims are contacted at their home by someone saying there is a problem with their computer and this person can fix it for them.
Everything looks like it’s on the up and up and the cost of fixing your computer is generally 169 dollars.
Then they ask you to download some software or give them access to your computer through the internet.
Police say by doing that you give the fraudsters the opportunity to install such things as a keystroke logger so that going forward, they can access whatever it is you type on the keyboard which could include financial data and passwords.
Police advise you to be cautious when approached by anyone who wants to sell you something you didn’t even know you needed.
