A dinner and silent auction has raised another 14 thousand dollars for the Mission Zimbabwe Project.
About 200 people attended the event last Saturday at Cedar Rail Camp near Chesley.
All of the proceeds from this event are going to the Village of Hope and the Children’s Home there, so that children will have a safe place to live, as well as food, medical care and a quality education.
Mission Zimbabwe is a local organization made up of volunteers that spends a couple of weeks each year visiting the Village of Hope, and raises money for it year-round.
The next team of volunteers plans to leave in May of 2012.
There are more fund raisers planned in the future — and the “Building Bridges, Building Hope” 2012 calendars are on sale for five dollars each.
These can be purchased by calling (519) 363-3526.
More information on the project can be found at www.missionzimbabwe.org.
