If you’ve spent any time at all in Inverhuron, you have likely spent time at what is called Upper Park at the corner of Road 15 and Albert Street.
Kincardine council has heard a delegation from the Inverhuron and District Ratepayers Association, that wants to build a community pavilion in the park.
Association spokesperson Marelle Evans says the project will cost about 220 thousand dollars and they’re hoping the municipality will help out.
The first phase will cost about 50 thousand dollars for site preparation and architect’s drawings.
The group plans to do a lot of its own fundraising as well.
Evans is hoping Kincardine will consider the request in their budget discussions next year.
Phase two of the project would include the construction of the building, connecting services and a gravel parking lot for up to 50 vehicles.
Kincardine Mayor Larry Kraemer favours the project, saying it’s a modest request considering Inverhuron very seldom asks for anything from the municipality.
He says the project will definitely be given consideration at budget time.
