Kraft Canada has come up with a unique way to help local Food Banks meet a growing need, and the Owen Sound Salvation Army is part of the new program.
Salvation Army spokesperson, Alice Wannan says by simply signing your name online at www.kraftassists.ca, Owen Sound residents can support the growing needs of our community, neighbours and friends.
For each virtual signature received between now and January 31st, Kraft Food for Families will donate 1 dollar to the Owen Sound Salvation Army Food Bank on the persons behalf.
Wannon says on the heels of Food Bank Canadas startling 2011 Hunger Count Report that shows that hundreds of thousands of Canadians have trouble providing food to their families, Kraft has developed the new program.
Owen Sound is one of 30 food banks in Canada that will benefit.
You can sign your name online once a day, every day until January 31st, 2012.
On January 31st, the food bank with the most online signatures will receive an additional donation of 10 thousand dollars from the Kraft Food for Families program.
Wannan says they have started a facebook group that has over 340 members who plan to vote daily at the Kraft Canada website.
