Ten people have applied to be the Artistic director of Summerfolk in Owen Sound.
Georgian Bay Folk Society President Ruth Parsons says the applications involve both local people, and those from outside the area.
The position became available when Richard Knechtal decided not to renew his contract.
It’s a part time job with a two year contractual committment.
Parsons says a committee is reviewing all the applications and will get it down to 4 or 5 in the next week or so.
Interviews will be done the week of Nov. 14th and the Georgian Bay folk society is hoping to name the new Artistic director around the first of December.
Meanwhile, a fund raising effort over the weekend raised 8 thousand dollars for Summerfolk.
The Georgian Bay Folk society had warned it needed 25 thousand dollars by early 2012 in order to have any hope of holding the event next year.
Parsons says with the 12 thousand dollars raised earlier, she is very optimistic that Summerfolk 2012 will take place.
