A Brockton businessman has been sentenced to eight months in jail on two counts of trying to procure underage girls for sex.
58 year old James Wakeford was in a Kitchener court on Monday, where his sentence was handed down.
Wakeford, the owner of the Hartley House hotel in Walkerton, was also given 2 years probation and will be on the sex offender registry for 10 years.
The sentences are to be carried out concurrently.
In pronouncing the sentence, the judge said “Wakeford took advantage of nave three young girls when he tried to persuade them to have sex with his older buddies for money.”
Wakeford was found guilty in February of two counts of trying to procure girls aged 14 and 16 to perform sex acts with several older men at a New Years Eve party in Puslinch township in 2008.
Wakeford denied running an escort service and said he only wanted the girls to help cater the party and clean up.
