18 year old Alyssa Kirk placed second at the International Drug-Free Athletics Championship in the Ottawa region
Competing at Gloucester, Kirk finished second in the body building event and hopes to acquire her pro card at another competition this weekend.
Kirk, a student at OSCVI, says her second place finish was a thrill.
She relates they announced the winners in reverse order, and once she realized she was in the top 2, she was overcome with joy.
Kirk began working out in the basement of a Seniors Home in Chatsworth and now utilizes the equipment at the Family Y for both cardio and free lift training.
Following a very strict diet composed primarily of fish, Kirk says she finds the discipline required to be a competitive bodybuilder to be motivating and she hopes to inspire others.
