It appears the Whitney Crawford Community Centre in Tiverton will get an internal facelift in the future.
The Chair of the centre committee Jim McTeer was before Kincardine council recently with a presentation on the state of the facility.
McTeer says washrooms do not meet accessibility standards and are not adequate to support the Annex capacity.
He says the kitchen area needs a makeover with something as simple as a dishwasher added on.
McTeer says not having a dishwasher in the kitchen has cost him rentals because caterers will not use the facility.
Kincardine Mayor Larry Kraemer says now is the time to act on this problem because volunteers are ready to pitch in and help.
Council agreed with McTeer to form a joint committee which will include municipal councillors to investigate options for expansion and renovation to correct the problems.
Kramer says there is 22 thousand dollars seed money in the Whitney Crawford capital account to get things started.
McTeer hopes to bring something to this year’s budget discussion but if he can’t, it will have to wait until the following year.
The Whitney Crawford Centre in Tiverton was built in 1956.
