No deal yet for Owen Sound firefighters — who are now approaching three full years without a contract.
Mediation talks back in July failed to result in a new agreement.
Firefighters Association President Dave Cruickshank says he has had no word back since Arbitration talks were held in July.
Owen Sound city Manager Ruth Coursey tells Bayshore Broadcasting news, it is not unusual for contract talks to drag on like this one.
Coursey says negotiations actually broke-down in 2009 and that’s when the firefighters called for a conciliator to be appointed.
That conciliator met with the two sides in November of 2009, and filed a report with the Ministry of Labour in March of 2010 that the dispute needed to go thru arbitration.
The City Manager says mediation talks were held in July but again no deal has been struck.
