It’s a black tie affair for a swamp.
The Saugeen Conservation Foundation is hosting an Evening of Conservation with a special gala event called a Fabulous Dinner, Wine Tasting and Silent Auction.’
It takes place Friday night at the Neustadt Community Centre. (cocktails at 5:30, dinner at 7 PM)
Spokesperson Shannon Wood tells Bayshore Broadcasting News they are raising money for the Greenock Wetlands, which is the largest forested wetland in all of southern Ontario.
Monies raised will go towards creating a boardwalk style of trail system throughout the Greenock Swamp.
The 100 dollar ticket event features four wines, a seven course meal and live musical entertainment.
Wood says the Saugeen Conservation Authority receives requests from people across Canada to explore the Greenock Swamp.
But she says without a trail — that is not possible.
Wood tells us they have been planning for this trail system for years now, which should serve as a tourist attraction.
Wood hopes the Dinner and Wine Tasting evening will raise 10 thousand dollars.
