It’s an opportunity for those with vision loss to experience art.
The Canadian National Institute for the Blind is hosting an exhibit at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery today.
Event Coordinator Donald Anderson says Eyes on the Arts features pieces of tactile art made by local artists.
He says the works are all touchable so that those who are blind or experience vision loss can experience the art through feel.
He says they’ve received some interesting pieces, including a landscape of a seashore made with seashells and netting.
The works will be shown in the studio area of the Tom Thomson Gallery from 11 AM until 7 PM, and then Anderson says they will have a wind-up event from 7 PM until 9 PM.
He says everybody who comes to the show will get a chance to vote on their favourite, and then the most popular works will be recognized at the end of the night.
They will also host “Desserts in the Dark,” where you’ll get a chance to try desserts, in the dark.
