Sheatre is bringing an interactive forum to Grey-Bruce high school students this week.
Artistic Director Joan Chandler says ‘Far From the Heart’ tackles issues like underage drinking, drugs, and sexual violence.
Chandler says it’s different because the audience is encouraged to participate in the play, by offering options to change the outcome of the situation the character is presented with.
The forum-theatre piece was actually created by Chandler and Grey-Bruce students in 2006.
Since then, Chandler says other school boards have been interested in how it engages students in discussions on tough subjects.
Chandler says they just spent four weeks touring in Saskatchewan, and after this week they will go to schools in the Simcoe and Ottawa regions.
She says they’ve even produced an online version of the play, and you can join in the discussion by filming your own alternate ending and uploading it to YouTube.
Sheatre will be stopping at Walkerton District Secondary, Peninsula Shores, Beaver Valley Community School and Chesley District High School this week.
