The municipality of Kincardine is getting closer to hiring a new Chief Administrative Officer.
Councillor Ken Craig tells Bayshore Broadcasting News they received 40 applications, primarily from Canada, for the position.
Craig says with the help of their consultant, Nigel Bellchamber, that list has been whittled down to seven candidates.
Another round of interviews will now take place so the committee can get the list down to two or three candidates for final interviews.
Craig says the applications were very impressive and included two from international candidates.
The successful applicant will replace CAO John deRosenroll who left the position this past summer.
Clerk Donna MacDougall has been acting as interim CAO.
