Over 100 vendors are set up at the Arran-Tara Community Centre.
It is the 30th annual Tara Festival of Crafts.
Committee member Judy Posthumus says the craft festival has grown from its beginnings as a church bazaar.
She says it has become a two-day event and features crafters from around Ontario and even as far away as Quebec.
Posthumus says it is a juried show, so each year the committee goes through hundreds of applications.
She says they try to pick out vendors that have something unique about them, and points out it’s a great place to get a head start on Christmas shopping.
Admission to the show is three dollars, and just one dollar for children under 12..
Posthumus says all of the proceeds go to help several people and organizations in the community.
In the past she says they’ve helped out with the Arran-Tara Elementary Grade 8 trip, Rotary projects, local churches, and the local legion.
She says they also like to support recreational activities in the community.
In the past six years, Posthumus says they have raised 80 thousand dollars.
The craft festival started on Friday and continues Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
