It looks like all of the dogs seized from a home in Oliphant this summer will find new homes.
Renee Robins of the Owen Sound Animal Shelter tells Bayshore Broadcasting news the five dogs they received were in and adopted right away.
And the Grey-Bruce Animal Shelter tells us they have a list of 32 people wanting to adopt the 18 puppies that were sent to them.
The shelter says one or two dogs are being released each day, as prospective owners come in to meet the dogs.
The shelter is making sure each dog is fixed and has its first round of shots before going into a new home.
There are still two that are too young for adoption, but with 32 people on the waiting list, it’s almost guaranteed each dog will find a home.
In total, 48 dogs were taken from the Oliphant home in August after a neighbour complained about the noise and smell, and expressed worry that the owner had not been seen for an entire weekend.
Most of them were Shih-Tzus or Shih-Tzu crosses.
Twenty-four of those dogs had to be taken to the Southampton Pet Hospital for treatment of minor medical issues, and all have now been adopted.
Two of the dogs had more serious issues, including one that needed surgery to correct a congenital deformity of her knee-cap.
That surgery cost 700 dollars, and the Pet Hospital is still taking donations to pay for it.
Meanwhile, the Grey-Bruce Animal Shelter has discovered the exact same problem with one of their dogs, and say the cost for surgery will likely be double that.
