It’s Fire Prevention Week and to celebrate, the Hanover Fire Department is hosting its annual Fire Open House.
Fire Chief Ken Roseborough is inviting you to drop by to meet the firefighters and tour the station.
Kids will also get a chance to try out a simulated fire extinguisher, target shoot with the fire hose, try on the fire gear, and check out the new 75 foot Ariel Fire Truck.
Roseborough says the interactive education format is a big hit for all ages, especially the kids.
Elementary school children are reminded to bring their ‘Great Escape’ plans, outlining how they would escape their home in the event of a fire.
The first 120 who return their plan will receive a free Happy Meal from McDonalds.
This popular event is expected to draw a crowd of about 300 people.
Roseborough calls the event a great opportunity for the public to mingle with the firefighters and ask questions regarding fire prevention and safety.
Roseborough adds Fire Prevention Week is also an ideal time to change the batteries in the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home, and ensure the family has a fire escape plan.
The Open House is tonight from 6:30 PM to 8 PM.
