Over one thousand Hydro One customers in the Owen Sound area got estimates for their electricity use in August, despite being on Smart Meters.
Spokesperson Nancy Shaddick blames growing problems, as Hydro One switches 1.2 million customers to the new system.
Shaddick says the communication network doesn’t necessarily have perfect connectivity in every location right away.
Crews are now tuning the network, including replacing some repeaters that relay time of use power consumption to the utility for billing.
Shaddick says the customers who received estimates last month, were billed at the lowest smart meter rate.
She says the information on usage is stored in the meters for up to 9 months, and the next bill should straighten out the readings.
