Three Owen Sound business owners are receiving heritage grants from the city.
Mayor Deb Haswell presented the grants at Monday’s Council meeting.
This round of granting gave money to Neil Kemp who owns the Old Post Office building, Jeff Robbins of Aveda Mane Street, and Catherine Brawl of the former Christian Science Church on 9th Street and 1st Ave West.
Haswell says council provides the grants to a maximum of 75 hundred dollars for business owners who have done renovations or restorations to the facade or the structure of a heritage building.
She says it’s a small way council can help preserve and restore the city’s heritage.
Haswell says they’re important grants because the upgrades increases the value of the properties, and therefore the assessment to the city.
She calls it a win-win situation for everybody.
