As voters head to the polls today to elect a new Ontario government, it appears the biggest issue locally is wind turbines.
In an online survey by Bayshore Broadcasting News, 73 per cent of participants named wind turbines and the Green Energy Act as the biggest issue in the campaign.
One listener said in the survey that he was a senior with heart problems and the turbines would be very near to his home. He added, “Ask the people of Denmark they will tell you they are not safe.”
Another listener calls it a wind power ripoff with few jobs going only to off shore McGuinty connections and they must be stopped.
The second biggest issue in our on-line survey was jobs and economy with 15 per cent saying it was key.
Concerns about health care came in third, with leadership fourth and jail closures fifth.
Polls are open now, until 9 PM across the province.
Bring identification to prove your name and address — such as a driver’s licence or utility bill — along with your Notice of Registration Card.
It tells you where to vote and proves your residence.
If you didn’t receive this card, you can still vote if you’re at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen and live in the riding.
If you’re not on the voters list, you need to prove your name and address and must sign a declaration to obtain a ballot.
