It’s that time of the year again, as the Salvation Army in the Owen Sound area collects food for the needy during it’s annual Thanksgiving drive.
Spokesperson Alice Wannan says demand is up, but they have kept the goal the same as the last two years, at 28 thousand pounds of food.
As of Wednesday morning — the Owen Sound Salvation Army had collected about four thousand pounds of food.
A truck courtesy of Thrifty truck rental is parked in the Bayshore Broadcasting parking lot in Owen Sound on Thursday to give listeners a chance to help out.
Wannan says they are helping about 100 more families a month compared to a year ago.
She says demand skyrocketed last December and never came down.
Last year, Owen Sound recorded the biggest shortfall in years during the Thanksgiving food drive for the Salvation Army Foodbank .
At that time, the drive fell 8 thousand pounds short from the 28-thousand pound goal.
